Biography
Rukiya Khamis is a climate and social justice activist and community organizer, based in Kenya who organizes alongside different grassroots communities in Anglophone Africa working around the resistance to fossil fuel projects. She supports the growth of the African climate justice movement, through organizing with and coaching different African groups to be more strategic and successful in their campaign goals. She organizes so as to ensure the ushering a just transition away from destructive fossil fuel use in her and overall African communities.
Apart from being a fossil-free campaigner and organizer, Rukiya Khamis is a Water Resource Management graduate passionate about water conservation, resolution and mitigation of water conflict and bridging the access-to-water gap in Kenya and beyond.
